From the Volleyball Court to Championship Court
Emma’s journey into pickleball began just four years ago at a local community center. What started as a fun family activity with her father and two brothers quickly evolved into a professional pursuit. After winning her first local tournament alongside her father, Nelson realized her potential in the sport.
While she spent five years excelling in competitive volleyball, she made the pivotal decision in 2023 to retire from the court to dedicate herself fully to the kitchen. That transition paid off nearly immediately. By 2024, she made her professional debut at the PPA Mesa Cup, playing her very first match on the prestigious Championship Court.
A Career on the Rise
The past two years have seen Nelson cement her status as a force to be reckoned with on the tour. Notable career highlights include:
August 2024: Pushing top-tier pros Meghan Dizon and Andrei Daescu to a grueling three-game match at the PPA Kansas City.
February 2025: Securing her first-ever main draw win in a PPA tournament.
July 2025: Capturing the singles title at an APP Next event.
September 2025: Officially signing with the PPA Tour.
November 2025: Competing at the PPA World Championships, where she made two standout appearances on Championship Court.
Currently, Emma holds the impressive ranking of 6th overall in the Women’s Doubles Junior DUPR standings.
